Katie Woznicki

Katie Woznicki is a Cleveland-born, multi-disciplinary artist who has been living and working in Belgrade, Serbia since 2007. Since then, she has been an active contributor to the local underground art scene.

She is a former member of the Matrijaršija collective and current contributor to the Center for Depth Art (formerly the Art Brut Serbia Association), an organization dedicated to outsider and marginal artists in the region. Her drawings are a result of an automatic unconscious process, usually depicting dark themes with bright and vibrant colors. She also makes music, knits, and braids psychedelic rag rugs.

Woznicki has contributed drawings and paintings to various exhibitions and collections, including the pair exhibition "Brutal Tenderness," as part of the series "Dialogs" with Edita Kadirić in the Oto Bihalji-Merin Salon of the Museum of Naive and Marginal Art in Belgrade (2024), the group exhibition "Dream Catchers" in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Croatia (2020) and in the Museum of Naive and Marginal Art in Jagodina, Serbia (2023), “Explorers of the Miraculous: works from the collection of marginal art from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb” in Infeld Haus Der Kultur, Halbturn, Austria (2023); and "Raw Intuitive," the third triennial of marginal art in the Museum of Naive and Outsider Art in Jagodina, Serbia (2022).

As far as music goes, she has an art-pop project, Dodola, twin peaks-core, which features moving chord progressions, catchy and often melancholic melodies, warm analogue electronic sounds and Woznicki's uniquely expressive voice. She is also a member of the post-dystopian micro-pop duo E-P-P!, which creates twisted advertising jingles, and was selected to represent Serbia in the EuroNoise competition in London, a parody of the Eurosong contest, in which they placed 4th. Also, she has a rap alter-ego named MC Kopy Kat, which started as a joke and accidentally became an underground feminist icon. She has been performing throughout the Balkans and Europe with her projects for nearly two decades.
